I am looking into buying a YJ that has the Mercedes I5 Om617 turbo diesel already installed in it. I have been looking for a YJ for a little while and decided that I wanted the 4.0 I6. Having more fuel to burn is essential for power. There are two types of injection pumps available for the om617: M and MW pumps. Currently, we can upgrade either pump type by outfitting your pump with Dieselmeken’s 7.5mm elements. Pumps are cleaned, tore down enough to perform the upgrade, resealed, and bench calibrated. Theres a fine comprimise between being unique, and just throwing money away, this swap would be teetering that line hard. If all you want is fuel economy, swap in a 2.3L with a 5sp and some high gears, youll get more MPG then the diesel and be a helluva lot cheaper and eaiser. If you want power a V8 is your best option.
